1 Enoch 25

And he said unto me: 'Enoch, why dost thou ask me regarding the fragrance of the tree, and ⌈why⌉ dost thou wish to learn the truth?' Then I answered him ⌈⌈saying⌉⌉: 'I wish to know about everything, but especially about this tree.' And he answered saying: 'This high mountain ⌈⌈which thou hast seen⌉⌉, whose summit is like the throne of God, is His throne, where the Holy Great One, the Lord of Glory, the Eternal King, will sit, when He shall come down to visit the earth with goodness.

From thence I proceeded to the middle of the earth, and beheld a happy and fertile spot, which contained branches continually sprouting from the trees which were planted in it. There I saw a holy mountain, and underneath it water on the eastern side, which flowed towards the south. I saw also on the east another mountain as high as that; and between them there were deep, but not wide valleys.

And ho said to me : '' Enoch, what dost thou ask mc concerning tlie fragrance of this tree and dost seek to know?"

Water ran towards the mountain to the west of this; and underneath there was likewise another mountain.

Then 1, Enoch, answered him, saying: '' Concerning all things I desire to know, but especially concerning this tree."

There was a valley, but not a wide one, below it; and in the midst of them were other deep and dry valleys towards the extremity of the three. All these valleys, which were deep, but not wide, consisted of a strong rock, with a tree which was planted in them. And I wondered at the rock and at the valleys, being extremely surprised.

And he answered me, saying : " This high mountain which thou hast seen, whose summit is like tlie throne of God, is the throne where the holy and great God of glory, the Eternal King, will sit when he shall descend to visit the earth with goodness.

And as for this fragrant tree no mortal is permitted to touch it till the great judgement^a, when He shall take vengeance on all and bring (everything) to its consummation for ever. It shall then be given to the righteous and holy.

And tliis tree of l)eautifnl fragrance cannot be touched by any flesli until the time of the great judgment ; when all things will be atoned for and consummated for eternity, this will be given to the just and humble

Its fruit shall be for food to the elect^a: it shall be transplanted to the holy place, to the temple of the Lord, the Eternal King. 6 Then shall they rejoice with joy and be glad, And into the holy place shall they enter; And its fragrance shall be in their bones, And they shall live a long life on earth, Such as thy fathers lived: And in their days shall no ⌈⌈sorrow or⌉⌉ plague Or torment or calamity touch them.' 7 Then blessed I the God of Glory, the Eternal King, who hath prepared such things for the righteous, and hath created them and promised to give to them.

From its fruits life will be given to the chosen ; it will be planted towards the north, in a holy place, towards the house of the Lord, the Eternal King.

Then they will rejoice greatly, and be glad in the Holy One ; they will let its fragrance enter their members, and live a long life upon the earth, as thy fathers lived ; and in tlieir days no sorrow or sickness or trouble or affliction will touch them."

Then 1 blessed the Lord of glory, the Eternal King, because he had prepared such for the just men, and had created such, and said he would give it to them.
