1 Enoch 85

And after this I saw another dream, and I will show the whole dream to thee, my son.

Again I looked attentively, [^l1] while sleeping, and surveyed heaven above.

And after this I saw another dream, and I will show thee all, my son.

And Enoch lifted up (his voice) and spake to his son Methuselah: 'To thee, my son, will I speak: hear my words--incline thine ear to the dream-vision of thy father.

And behold a single star fell from heaven.

And Enoch began, and said to his son Methuselah : " To thee, my son, I will speak ; hear my words, and lend thy ear to the vision of the dream of thy father.

Before I took thy mother Edna, I saw in a vision on my bed, and behold a bull came forth from the earth, and that bull was white^a; and after it came forth a heifer, and along with this (latter) came forth two bulls, one of them black and the other red.

Which being raised up, ate and fed among those cows.

Before I took thy mother Edna, I saw in a vision on my conch, and behold, a bullock came out of the earth, and this bullock was white ; and after him there came a female of the same species, and together with this one came other cattle, one of them was black and one red.

And that black bull gored the red one^a and pursued him over the earth, and thereupon I could no longer see that red bull.

After that I perceived *other* large and black cows; and behold all of them changed their stalls and pastures, while their young began to lament one with another. Again I looked in my vision, and surveyed heaven; when behold I saw many stars which descended, and projected themselves from heaven to where the first star was,

And that black one horned the red one, and followed THE BOOK OF ENOCH. 211 it over the earth ; and then I could no longer see that red one.

But that black bull grew and that heifer went with him, and I saw that many oxen proceeded from him which resembled and followed him.

Into the midst of those young ones; while the cows were with them, feeding in the midst of them.

And that black one grew, and a cow came with it, and I saw that many cattle, like it and following it, came from it.

And that cow, that first one, went from the presence of that first bull in order to seek that red one, but found him not, and lamented with a great lamentation over him and sought him.

I looked at and observed them; when behold, they all acted after the manner of horses, and began to approach the young cows, all of whom became pregnant, and brought forth elephants, camels, and asses.

And that cow, the first one, came from the presence of that first bullock, seeking that red one, and did not find it, and then raised a great cry, and hunted it.

And I looked till that first bull came to her and quieted her, and from that time onward she cried no more.

At these all the cows were alarmed and terrified; when they began biting with their teeth, swallowing, and striking with their horns.

And I looked until that first bullock came to her and quieted her ; and from that time she did not cry aloud.

And after that she bore another white bull, and after him she bore many bulls and black cows.

They began also to devour the cows; and behold all the children of the earth trembled, shook with terror at them, and suddenly fled away.

And after that she brought fortli another white bullock, and after that she brouglit forth many bullocks and black cows.

And I saw in my sleep that white bull likewise grow and become a great white bull, and from Him proceeded many white bulls, and they resembled him. And they began to beget many white bulls, which resembled them, one following the other, (even) many.
