1 Enoch 63

In those days shall the mighty and the kings who possess the earth implore (Him) to grant them a little respite^a from His angels of punishment to whom they were delivered, that they might fall down and worship before the Lord of Spirits, and confess their sins before Him.

I saw also other countenances in that secret place. I heard the voice of an angel, saying, These are the angels who have descended from heaven to earth, and have revealed secrets to the sons of men, and have seduced the sons of men to the commission of sin.

And in those days the powerful kings, who hold the earth, will petition the angels of punishment, to whom they are delivered, that they should give them a little rest, so that they could fall down and worship before the Lord of the spirits, and could acknowledge their sins before him.

And they shall bless and glorify the Lord of Spirits, and say: 'Blessed is the Lord of Spirits and the Lord of kings, And the Lord of the mighty and the Lord of the rich, And the Lord of glory and the Lord of wisdom,

And they will bless and glorify the Lord of the spirits, and will say : " Blessed is the Lord of the spirits, and the Lord of kings, the Lord of the powerful, and the Lord of the rulers, and the Lord of glory, and the Lord of wisdom, and every secret is clear.

And splendid in every secret thing is Thy power from generation to generation, And Thy glory for ever and ever: Deep are all Thy secrets and innumerable, And Thy righteousness is beyond reckoning.

We have now learnt that we should glorify And bless the Lord of kings and Him who is king over all kings.'

Now we know that we should praise and bless the Lord of kings, and liim wlio rules over all the kings."

And they shall say: 'Would that we had rest to glorify and give thanks And confess our faith before His glory!

And they will say : " Who will give us rest, that we might praise and thank and bless him, and be believers before his glory ? 6. And now we long for a little rest, and do not find it ; we are driven away, and do not receive it ; the light has ceased before us, and darkness is our dwelling-place to all eternity.

And now we long for a little rest but find it not: We follow hard upon and obtain (it) not: And light has vanished from before us, And darkness is our dwelling-place for ever and ever:

For we have not believed before Him Nor glorified the name of the Lord of Spirits, [nor glorified our Lord] But our hope was in the sceptre of our kingdom, And in our glory.

For before him we have not believed, and have not honored the name of the Lord of the kings, and we have not praised the Lord in all his doing, and our hope was in the sceptre of our kingdom and in our glory.

And in the day of our suffering and tribulation He saves us not, And we find no respite for confession That our Lord is true in all His works, and in His judgements and His justice, And His judgements have no respect of persons.

And in the day of our trial and our trouble he did not save us, and we do not find rest to believe that our Lord is faithful in all his deeds and in all his judgments and his justice, and that his judgment does not respect persons.

And we pass away from before His face on account of our works, And all our sins are reckoned up in righteousness.'

And we shall disappear before his face on account of our deeds, and all our sins are counted in justice."

Now they shall say unto themselves: 'Our souls are full of unrighteous gain, but it does not prevent us from descending from the midst thereof into the †burden† of Sheol.'

Now they will say to them : " Our souls are satisfied with unjust goods, but it does not prevent our going to the flames of the pain of hell."

And after that their faces shall be filled with darkness And shame before that Son of Man, And they shall be driven from his presence, And the sword shall abide before his face in their midst.

And after that their countenances will be filled with darkness and shame before that Son of man, and they will be expelled from his presence, and a sword will dwell in their midst before his countenance.

Thus spake the Lord of Spirits: 'This is the ordinance and judgement with respect to the mighty and the kings and the exalted and those who possess the earth before the Lord of Spirits.'

And thus said the Lord of the spirits : " This is the ordinance and judgment of the mighty and the kings and the exalted and those who hold the earth before the Lord of the spirits."
